Robotic Press Brake Tending

The brake you own, run by a robot that follows every bend.

A FANUC robot that loads, follows the bend, regrips, and stacks, built around the press brake you already own. Any brand, tonnage, or bed length.

A FANUC robot with a vacuum end effector loading sheet-metal blanks at a press brake in a TWA cell
  • Retrofit onto your existing brake: no new machine, no shipping it out
  • A 176 ton brake retrofitted in place with a FANUC on a rail, 10 foot bed
  • Sixteen foot panels and five hundred pound blanks handled by one cell
  • One year warranty from the earlier of substantial completion or first production use

The problem

A press brake tended by hand runs part after part with a person at each one. The station is hard to staff, hard on the people at it, and runs well below what the brake could produce. On a multi-bend part, every regrip is another place for the part to move.

What the cell does

A FANUC robot picks a blank from a stack, squares it on a locating table, and presents it to the brake. It follows the part through the bend so the flange never fights the ram, regrips between bends, and stacks the finished part in the pattern the next process wants. The brake keeps its controller and its footprint; the robot learns to run it.

  • Heavy plate. Steel plate over six feet long and more than 150 pounds each, handled unattended all day on a 135-ton brake: Thunder Creek, featured by FANUC America.
  • Big-bed retrofit. A 176-ton Baykal brake with a ten-foot bed, tended by a FANUC M-710iC/70 riding a seventh-axis rail, installed in place with no machine relocation.

What it does not do

  • It does not come with a new brake. The cell is built around the one you own.
  • It does not fit every part with one robot. The part decides whether a cobot is enough or whether the work needs an industrial robot, a regrip station, and real guarding.
  • It does not run without guarding. Light curtains sit at every load point, backed by a documented risk assessment.
  • It does not hide a poor fit. If the part family, volume, or floor does not support a cell, we say so.

Questions we get on the first call

Can you automate the press brake I already have?

Yes. Any brand, tonnage, or bed length. The brake keeps its controller and its footprint; the work is in the gripper, the regrip station, the safety system, and the integration to the brake's control, not in the machine.

Cobot or industrial robot?

The part decides. Under roughly 35 pounds with short flanges a cobot can work. Long parts, heavy plate, and multi-bend families need an industrial robot with a regrip station and real guarding.

Will you tell me if my line is not a fit?

Yes. The Fit Check and the first visit exist to answer that honestly before anyone spends money. If the part family, volume, or floor does not support a cell, you will hear it from us.

Is this your station? Start with the Fit Check.

About a minute, with no contact information needed to see the answer. If it fits, we offer a first visit. You decide what happens after.
